Avoid the area near Central Avenue and Northwest Highway. Due to a gas main leak, Central Avenue is shut down in both directions and Northwest Highway is down to a single lane. Nicor is on the scene and it is anticipated Central will be shut down for several hours.

Shortly after 4:45 pm, the Mount Prospect Fire Department was dispatched to a four-story apartment complex at 701 Huntington Commons Road with reports of the complex’s roof partially torn off.
Emergency responders evacuated the building immediately and reported no injuriespx
